Google Analytics - did you know it's been changed?

Google Analytics is a powerful tool that can help you track your website traffic and understand your customers. But did you know that Google Analytics has been updated?

Starting July 1, 2023, Universal Analytics stopped processing new data. This means that if you haven't yet updated to Google Analytics 4 (GA4), then GA is no longer tracking your website traffic. Your historical data can still be accessed, it's just new data that needs to now be tracked and as such your GA account needs to be updated..

GA4 is a new version of Google Analytics that is designed to be more flexible and future-proof. It uses a different data model than Universal Analytics, so you'll need to create a new property in GA4 if you want to start using it.

Here are some of the benefits of updating to GA4:

  1. More flexible data model: GA4 uses a different data model than Universal Analytics, which makes it more flexible and future-proof.
  2. Better cross-platform tracking: GA4 can track users across multiple platforms, including websites, apps, and social media.
  3. Enhanced predictive analytics: GA4 uses machine learning to provide more accurate and predictive insights into your data.
  4. Improved privacy controls: GA4 gives you more control over how your data is collected and used.

If you're not sure how to update your Google Analytics, there are resources available to help you. Google has a comprehensive guide on how to migrate to GA4, but if that's all too hard, then ask us at Miniwebs to set those changes up for you.
